Take the First Step

Tim and Jodi had gone to three counselors looking for help, but their problem continued - violent fights, just about every week or two. Nothing seemed to help. On top of this, Tim battled with feelings of being unloved by God, and Jodi battled feelings of being unloved by Tim.
Sharon was a young mother driven to alcohol. Even while shopping for the family groceries she felt driven to the alcohol aisle. She was concerned about her Christian testimony, especially to her children, and often shopped across town so that her neighbors could not see her buy the toxicant.
Josh saw “spirit beings” in his room at night. Nightmares were a regular part of his life. Fear dominated his thinking process, every move he made, even his relations with other people.
We know that Jesus came to give freedom to those in spiritual bondage, to give spiritual liberty to those who are bruised by Satan. Why then, are there so many Christians struggling today? Is Christianity simply not working for them? What docs the Scripture say? Paul tells us Satan has schemes against us and we must be aware of them so that we will not fall into his traps. In 2 Corinthians 2:11 we read, “So that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.”
His crafty plans are filled with fakery and bluff, but at the cross, the Lord Jesus Christ overpowered him and took away from him all the armor on which he relies and distributed his plunder (Luke 11:22).
What the Lord Jesus took from Satan He gave to His children. That is, authority over the powers of Satan. Even new Christians, beginning to feed on the simplest teachings of the Word, have Christ’s delegated authority over the enemy. God’s Word clearly teaches this in Psalm 8:2. “From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established strength because of Your adversaries, to make the enemy and the revengeful one cease.”
